2017 FESTIVALS IN ST. AUGUSTINE

ST. AUGUSTINE FILM FESTIVAL

Jan. 19-22: The 7th Annual Saint Augustine Film Festival will run January 19-22, featuring more than 30 films created all over the world. The movies will be shown at Flagler College and at Corazon Cinema & Cafe, both in downtown St. Augustine. See the list of films and the schedule at www.staugfilmfest.com. An All Access pass allows film-goers to preview the films on January 19. The festival is open to the public Jan. 20-22, with individual tickets available throughout the weekend. In addition, the festival includes a Friday Night Opening Gala, a Saturday Night Party, and the Sunday Night Closing Gala — all with opportunities to meet the filmmakers. For more details and tickets, go to www.staugfilmfest.com

OLD CITY PIRATE FEST

Jan. 27-29: Do you long for the days when Pirates roamed the streets of St. Augustine? Would you like to walk the streets of the city where Famous Pirates once raided their fortunes? Join the St. Augustine Swashbucklers as they host the First Annual Old City Pirate Fest  from Jan. 27-29 in the Colonial Quarter, 33 Saint George St., downtown St. Augustine. Blacksmithing, Sword-fighting & Black Powder Weaponry Demonstrations, Musicians, Gypsies, Dancers, Magicians, Mermaids and other performers.   • Friday, Jan. 27: 8 p.m., Festival supporters, vendors, performers and workers of the event. $5 admission for non-festival personnel.  
  • Saturday, Jan. 28: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. — Step back in time and enjoy a full day of activities in the Historic Colonial Quarter. Tom Mason & the Blue Buccaneers concert at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 29: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Last day to take in the sights and sounds of Piracy in the Oldest City. Make sure to visit the vendors and take home some prized booty to remember your adventure.

CATHEDRAL FESTIVAL

Feb. 24-26: Fireworks, live music, midway rides and more will be offered Feb. 24-26 during the 32nd Annual Cathedral Festival! Music headliner the Red River Band performs each year, along with local musicians on the schedule throughout the three-day event. Held on the grounds of the Mission Nombre de Dios, the fundraiser is one of the area’s largest festivals featuring rides, games, bingo, a silent auction and a fireworks spectacular show. Proceeds go to the private Cathedral Parish School and the Cathedral Parish Early Education Center. A fireworks show will light up the sky at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 over the water near the grounds. A silent auction will begin at noon Feb. 26, featuring vacation packages, gift baskets, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, art, jewelry and other items from area businesses and the community. Parking is available in the Mission parking lot, and 500 parking spaces are available each day in the parking garage. Hours are 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24; noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25; and noon to 9 p.m. Feb. 26. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for children 11-17 and adults 65 and older; with free admission for active duty military and children 10 and younger. Go to thecathedralfestival.com to stay updated.

ST. AUGUSTINE LIONS SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

March 3-5: The 36th annual St. Augustine Lions Seafood Festival is set for March 3-5 at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine.Children 12 and younger are admitted FREE with a paying adult (only $4 for adults at the gate!). The Seafood Festival features dozens of seafood vendors and other fair foods, adult beverages, more than 100 arts & crafts vendors, live music on the main stage, and kids rides and games. Festival hours are 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 3; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 4; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 5. ST. AUGUSTINE LIGHTHOUSE NIGHT FEST & 5K /FUN RUN

March 4: The St. Augustine Lighthouse Fest will grant FREE admission to the Lighthouse and grounds on Saturday, March 4 from 4 to 8:30 p.m., with exhibits, activities, and the Lighthouse open for the public. The Junior Service League of St. Augustine celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Lighthouse 5K & Fun Run. The 5k Race starts at 4:30 p.m. and the mile Fun Run follows. Go to  www.staugustinelighthouse.org or stay updated at https://www.facebook.com/events/1730593053927953/

MENORCAN HERITAGE FEST

March 4: The annual Menorcan Heritage Fest presented by the Menorcan Cultural Society will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at the Llambias House, 31 Saint Francis St., downtown St. Augustine. The event will include traditional Menorcan foods, guest speakers and story tellers, living history and arts/culture demonstrations (Menorcan cast net demos), hot dogs for the kids, Datil pepper hot sauces and jellies, Menorcan t-shirts, caps and other items. Admission is FREE!
